• Big publishers (Reddit, Quora, Yahoo, Medium, Ziff Davis) back a new system called Real Simple Licensing (RSL)

• RSL lets websites set clear rules in their robots.txt file for how AI companies can use their data

• There’s also a licensing collective, similar to how musicians get royalties through ASCAP

• The challenge is proving which data AI models actually use, making payments hard to track
