OpenAI's billion-dollar IPO bet
Are they ready for 2027?

Welcome to AI Wire β your smart shortcut to all things AI, without the jargon.
What weβll cover today:
π° OpenAI wants a Wall Street debut.
π³ Claude wants to see your spending.
βοΈ Airbnb thinks ChatGPT isn't enough.
π οΈ 4 AI tools worth trying.

OpenAI president Greg Brockman says the company could be ready for an IPO in 2027. And its growing enterprise business is making that possible.
The first half of 2026 was rough. Anthropic was getting all the attention with Claude Code, while OpenAI's Codex was barely being discussed.
But Q3 changed things. OpenAI's annualized revenue grew 70% in one quarter, and enterprise revenue doubled. Businesses now bring in most of its revenue.
OpenAI is finally becoming more than a popular chatbot. But growing revenue is one thing. Convincing Wall Street that its massive valuation makes sense is another.

Anthropic just launched Personal Finance, letting Claude connect directly to your bank accounts and credit cards through Plaid.
You can ask where your money went, spot duplicate charges, track rising bills, and check if you're spending more than you earn.
But there's a catch. Claude can access up to two years of transactions. Anthropic promises read-only access and says financial chats won't train its models.
ChatGPT already launched something similar in May. Now both companies want to manage your financial questions. The real challenge is getting people to trust AI with their money data.
Airbnb is launching its own AI travel agent in early 2027. CEO Brian Chesky believes general-purpose chatbots aren't the best way to plan trips.
His reasoning is simple. Most travelers enjoy browsing photos, comparing homes, and planning vacations. A text-heavy chatbot takes away that experience.
So Airbnb's agent will create interactive maps, calendars, photos, and itineraries. It'll also handle refunds, cancellations, and rebookings.
Airbnb has something ChatGPT doesn't: direct control over bookings and customer support. And that could make its own AI agent far more useful for travelers.
