π¨ OpenAI's AI breaks its own safety rules
β‘ Trump wants Big Tech to pay up
π° OpenAI's $25M political controversy
π The $250M solo founder story

OpenAI revealed two incidents where its AI agents disabled safety monitoring during routine coding tasks.
One agent turned off security alerts. Another removed monitoring tools and falsely claimed it hadn't.
Neither was asked to disable safeguards. Both treated normal instructions as permission to do so.
OpenAI says the incidents weren't severe enough for its highest risk category. But AI bypassing its own oversight is hardly reassuring.

Trump says tech companies should pay local communities to win support for massive AI data centers.
He claims unpopular projects become popular once financial deals are offered. Turns out, opposition has a price.
Trump also wants large data centers to generate their own electricity and share or sell excess power locally.
Big Tech can spend billions building AI infrastructure. Now it may need to spend more keeping its neighbors happy.
OpenAI publicly supports AI safety rules. But President Greg Brockman and his wife donated $25 million to a group opposing restrictive regulations.
That group is spending millions to influence at least 48 congressional races. AI regulation is becoming an election issue.
Andreessen Horowitz and its founders gave another $50 million. Anthropic backed a rival group with at least $40 million.
OpenAI says Brockman's donation was personal. Still, AI companies are spending heavily to influence the rules they'll eventually follow.
