OpenAI Is Arming the Defenders 🔐

• OpenAI expanded Daybreak, giving approved security teams access to more powerful cyber models.

• The new Red tier includes GPT-5.6 Cyber for vulnerability research, exploit testing, and other high-risk security work.

• The awkward part is obvious: AI is making cyberattacks stronger, and AI labs are now selling the defense too.

• This could make cybersecurity less about who has the best team and more about who gets access to the best models.

Claude Is Watermarking Writing 🔎

• Anthropic is adding invisible watermarks to Claude-generated text to comply with new EU rules.

• The watermark can stay with the text when you copy and paste it into other apps.

• It is not foolproof, since enough editing or rewriting can weaken or remove it.

• AI companies spent years making AI writing harder to spot. Regulators are now pushing them to make it traceable again.

Meta Lost Its Manus Deal 🇨🇳

• Manus is going independent again after China forced Meta to unwind its $2 billion-plus acquisition.

• Beijing is clearly treating frontier AI startups as strategic assets, not normal companies that can be sold freely.

• The separation also means some Manus user data will be deleted later this month for regulatory reasons.

• Tencent has reportedly explored becoming Manus' largest shareholder, so Manus may stay independent from Meta but not necessarily from Big Tech.
