China Owns 97% of Humanoid Shipments 🤖

• Chinese companies shipped more than 97% of the world’s humanoid robots in the first half of 2026. Global shipments hit 19,100 units, more than triple last year.

• Agibot shipped 8,400 robots and Unitree shipped 5,900. That puts China’s leaders miles ahead of Tesla, Figure and Agility Robotics on actual hardware leaving factories.

• More than 70% of shipments are now going to industrial and commercial customers, up from roughly 50% last year. Humanoids are slowly becoming a deployment market, not just a demo market.

• The U.S. just banned new Chinese humanoid imports over security concerns.

North Korea linked to AI Hackers 💻

• A North Korean-linked hacking group reportedly built its own local AI stack using tools like Ollama, GPT4All and RAG to help automate cyber operations.

• Running models locally means hackers can analyze stolen documents without sending sensitive data through OpenAI, Google or another outside provider. That removes one of the biggest operational risks of using AI for espionage.

• Researchers also found AI agent frameworks, speech-to-text tools and Cursor linked to the campaign.

Amazon’s AI Boom Needs Gas ⚡

• Amazon is planning a Texas data center with its own natural gas power plant that is permitted to emit 33 million tons of CO₂ per year, potentially more than any existing U.S. power plant.

• Amazon says generating electricity on-site means the project will not push Texas household electricity prices higher. That also tells you how broken the AI power equation is becoming. Big Tech can no longer assume the grid will keep up.

• Amazon’s carbon emissions already rose 16% last year, while the company still says it plans to eliminate its carbon emissions by 2040. AI infrastructure is making that promise much harder to square.
