Elon Musk's 7-minute movie 🎬

The Odyssey

Welcome to AI Wire β€” your smart shortcut to all things AI, without the jargon.

What we’ll cover today:

🎬 Musk promised a movie. Grok delivered 7 minutes.

πŸ’€ AI hackers are getting cheaper. Japan is paying.

πŸ€– Uber just gave 30,000 employees ChatGPT.

πŸš€ OpenAI's co-founder says start building before you're ready.

  • Elon Musk promised a full-length AI movie of The Odyssey. Three months later, Grok released just seven minutes and called it Episode 1.

  • The visuals look realistic, but the dialogue feels stiff and the storytelling lacks depth. Good visuals clearly don't guarantee a good movie.

  • Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's Odyssey became a box office hit. Musk wanted to challenge traditional filmmaking, but the comparison isn't helping his case.

  • AI can now generate impressive movie scenes. The harder part is making something people actually want to watch.

  • Japan is facing a wave of cyberattacks. GMO Internet is paying customers Β₯5,000 ($32) each after hackers targeted its trading service.

  • GMO's stock fell 15%, while Park24 expects a Β₯5.5 billion loss from another breach. Poor cybersecurity is becoming an expensive mistake.

  • Japan recorded 723 cyber incidents by October 20, already more than in all of 2024 or 2025. AI is helping hackers find weaknesses and launch attacks faster.

  • Japan now plans to use AI to test its own defenses. AI is making attacks cheaper, while companies are being forced to spend more on security.

  • Uber is rolling out ChatGPT Work to all 30,000 employees after testing it with 1,000 workers earlier this year.

  • Surprisingly, 80% of early users weren't engineers. They used AI to analyze data, translate materials, and build dashboards.

  • Uber also assigned 30 AI engineers to help teams automate their work. But it still hasn't decided exactly how everyone should use ChatGPT.

  • This is a big enterprise win for OpenAI. But giving everyone AI access is easy. Proving it actually improves productivity is the real challenge.
