Anthropic accidentally leaked parts of its Claude Code source, which quickly spread across GitHub repos.
They issued a copyright takedown, but it hit ~8,100 repos due to how GitHub fork networks work.
Many legit repos got blocked, including their own public code forks, triggering backlash from developers.
They rolled it back to ~100 repos, but this exposes weak internal controls right before a potential IPO.
